Bobi Wine: World funding Museveni dictatorship

Bobi Wine is currently taking part in the 79th World Film Festival in Venice, Italy, for the premiere of his documentary, 'Bobi Wine'.

Speaking in Italy, Bobi said for the last five years, Ugandan's struggles have been captured on camera and in a documentary film.

"I am humbled that this film was selected to be among the top 20 films in the world to grace this festival," he said.

The documentary highlights Bobi's rise from the slum in which he grew up to first become a musical star and then a political phenomenon with international appeal.

"I want the people in the international community to know that somewhere in the world, somewhere in Africa, in a country called Uganda, people are being massacred for what they think," he said.

Bobi said the message revolves around the international community being complicit in the Museveni dictatorship by providing aid to Uganda, which is subsequently used to violate human rights and undermine democracy in the country.

The documentary also charts the course of his grassroots political campaign from 2017 up to 2021, when he unsuccessfully ran against Museveni in the presidential elections.

The documentary also highlights how he has used his music to address social justice and pitch for reform in the country.
