Hundreds of Kitengela residents have come out to join the country in the Wednesday demonstrations.

The protests are being held across the country to remember the victims of last year’s demonstrations against the Finance Bill.

Businesses across the town were closed as tear gas and police engaged the protesters.

The anti-riot police swung into action after some of the demonstrators took to the Namanga Road and barricaded it using stones.

The police barricaded major roads in the town, disrupting transport.

Protesters lit fires using tyres, chanting anti-government messages.

Police are using tear gas to disperse the surging crowds as they engage in running battles.
