Thousands of Kenyans on Friday thronged a leading security company headquarters in the country for job interviews.  

The company had advertised for 150 slots, seeking to employ Kenyans in positions like Courier clerks, controllers, Customer service, Security Officers, credit controllers, among others. 

In a video shared by Citizen Digital, the young people who were dressed up in suits and ties, while others in official dresses, were seen standing in long queues.  

The country is currently facing an increased rate of unemployment, with a report by Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) stating that Kenya's labour market has remained almost unchanged since 2013. 

The total number of employed Kenyans has been growing at an average rate of about 5.07 per cent since 2013.

The highest recorded growth was in 2014 when it hit the 6.2 per cent mark.

President William Ruto had announced that through the Affordable Housing Program, 1.8 million jobs will be created. 

“Masonry, plumbing, and carpentry are some of the jobs that will be created,” he said.
