Police in Nairobi's Starehe Sub-County have intensified operations against the production and distribution of illicit alcoholic drinks, with officers seizing hundreds of litres of illegal brews in the latest crackdown.

The National Police Service (NPS) said officers from Korogocho Police Station, working jointly with National Government Administration Officers, recovered 800 litres of Kangara and 33 litres of Chang'aa during an operation conducted in the Ngomongo area.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts aimed at safeguarding public health and enhancing security.

According to the NPS, the crackdown targets the production and distribution of illicit alcohol within the sub-county as part of a broader campaign against the illegal trade.

The Service commended the cooperation of local administrators and members of the public in efforts to combat illicit alcohol.

Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through the emergency numbers 999 and 911, the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line 0800 722 203, or WhatsApp on 0709 570 000.

The NPS said it remains committed to protecting communities by combating the production, distribution and consumption of illicit alcohol.
