The global automotive landscape is undergoing a massive transformation, with Asia and Europe firmly established at the forefront of the electric vehicle transition.

According to data from Statista covering 2025 sales, several nations have achieved historic milestones in integrating cleaner transportation into their markets.

These figures track the market share of battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles relative to total car sales, showcasing a clear international divergence in adoption rates.

Norway continues to operate as the undisputed global pioneer in e-mobility. The European nation has achieved an astonishing 97% market share, meaning nearly every new car sold in the country is now electrified.

While Norway anchors the top spot, Asian nations are aggressively closing the gap. Nepal has emerged as a surprising powerhouse in the region, securing the second-highest global share at 68%.

It is closely followed by Singapore, where electric options account for 63% of all new car sales.

Iceland maintains Europe's strong presence at the top of the rankings with a 62% share. Meanwhile, China, the world's largest automotive market, sees more than half of its total sales electrified, capturing a 53% market share.

Further down the ranks, Vietnam shows robust momentum with 41%, while the United Kingdom and Switzerland round out the leading pack with 35% and 34% shares, respectively.
