
Kenya registered a slight drop in maize prices between March and April 2026, according to new regional food security data released by the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA).
The report shows the average price of maize in Kenya fell from $441 (Sh57,000) per metric ton in March to $431 (Sh55,700) in April.
South Sudan recorded the highest maize prices in the region despite a decline from $1,095 to $1,024 per metric ton. Uganda and Rwanda also registered price drops, while Ethiopia saw prices rise from $330 to $381.
Tanzania recorded the lowest maize prices among the selected East African countries at $308 per metric ton in April.
