The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) received 35 investigation files between January 1 and March 31, 2026, according to newly released prosecution statistics.
Out of the 35 files forwarded to the ODPP, 30 were recommended for prosecution, highlighting a high number of cases investigators believe had sufficient evidence to proceed to court.
The report further shows that two files were recommended for administrative or other action, while three were recommended for closure.
No file during the period was recommended for prosecution, with cases already lodged before the court.
The statistics also indicate that the ODPP accepted recommendations to prosecute in seven cases. One recommendation for administrative or other action was also accepted.
The figures provide insight into the country’s criminal justice process and the handling of investigation files before prosecution decisions are made.
The data reflects the collaboration between investigative agencies and prosecutors in reviewing criminal cases and determining whether matters should proceed to court or be resolved through alternative action.
