How Ebola systematically attacks the human body/WILLIAM WANYOIKE

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Ebola virus disease attacks the human body rapidly and can cause severe damage to multiple organs and systems.

The virus enters the body through broken skin or contact with infected bodily fluids before targeting immune cells and spreading through the bloodstream.

Once inside the body, Ebola weakens the immune system, making it difficult for the body to fight infection.

The virus damages blood vessels and interferes with normal blood clotting, which can lead to internal and external bleeding in severe cases.

Common symptoms include sudden fever, fatigue, muscle pain, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhoea, and headaches.

As the disease progresses, patients may develop organ failure, dehydration, shock, and uncontrolled bleeding.

WHO says Ebola has a high fatality rate if not detected and treated early.

Supportive medical care, including hydration and treatment of symptoms, significantly improves survival chances while helping reduce complications caused by the virus.
