A new public opinion survey released by Tifa Research identifies Kalonzo Musyoka and Edwin Sifuna as the leading potential duo for the opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The findings, released on May 14, 2026, suggest a shifting landscape within the opposition camp as various political heavyweights are paired to test voter sentiment.
The Musyoka-Sifuna ticket leads the pack with a 28% preference rating among supporters of opposition candidates.
However, the race for the top spot is remarkably tight. A combination featuring former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka follows closely behind, commanding 25 per cent support.
This narrow three-point margin underscores a significant debate among the electorate regarding whether a traditional opposition lineup or a cross-factional alliance holds more appeal.
While the Musyoka-Sifuna pairing holds the highest visible percentage on the primary chart, the data highlights an even stronger outlier.
A combination of Kalonzo Musyoka and Fred Matiang'i actually attracts the most traction at 31 per cent, narrowly outperforming the Musyoka-Sifuna duo.
In contrast, other potential pairings struggle to gain similar momentum; a Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua ticket currently sits at just four per cent.
The study, which tested these pairs without specifying who would serve as President or Deputy President, also reveals a segment of the opposition base remains undecided or unimpressed. About nine per cent of respondents stated they prefer none of the listed pairs, while three percent remain unsure.
These figures indicate that while the Kalonzo-led tickets are currently the most dominant, the final shape of the 2027 challenge remains in a state of flux.
