
Data from the Usawa Agenda report, released May 12, 2026, details the percentage of Kenyan senior schools with learners receiving bursaries in 2025.
The data categorises support by school type and source.
Member of Parliament (MP) funds reached the most schools, averaging 92.6%, with boys' schools peaking at 93.9%.
Governor bursaries followed at a 64.9% average, while private sources averaged 60.4%.
The Ministry of Education (MOE) and the President's office recorded lower averages of 22.5% and 13.7%, respectively.
Across all sources, boys' senior schools consistently showed higher percentages of bursary support compared to girls' and mixed schools.
Mixed schools generally outperformed girls' schools in receiving these funds.
