
The 2026 Economic Survey highlights shifting retail prices for essential consumer goods between 2021 and 2025.
Beef with bones recorded a steady climb, reaching Sh689.62 per kilogram in 2025, representing an 8.6% increase.
Similarly, Offals Matumbo rose to Sh369.37, a 5.9% uptick.
Maize grain prices fluctuated significantly, peaking at Sh77.69 in 2023 before settling at Sh67.58, marking a 7.8% change.
Conversely, some staples provided relief to consumers.
White bread remained nearly stagnant with a negligible -0.0% change, priced at Sh66.43 for 400 grams.
Packeted milk saw a slight decrease of -1.4%, ending the period at Sh56.39 per half litre.
These figures illustrate the diverse inflationary pressures affecting the Kenyan household food basket.
