Kenya’s national budget has steadily grown over the past four financial years, rising from Sh3.61 trillion in 2023/24 to a projected Sh4.82 trillion in 2026/27. Treasury data shows the budget increased to Sh3.98 trillion in 2024/25 and Sh4.7 trillion in 2025/26, reflecting a consistent upward trend. The latest increase represents a 2 per cent growth, signalling continued expansion in government spending. The rising budget points to sustained fiscal pressure as the government seeks to fund development, service delivery and recurrent expenditure amid a challenging economic environment.
