Kenya cemented its status as a global athletics powerhouse at the 2026 London Marathon, held on April 26.

Sabastian Sawe delivered a historic performance, winning the men’s race in a staggering 1:59:30, marking one of the fastest finishes in marathon history.

Fellow Kenyans Amos Kipruto and Geoffrey Kamworor secured fourth and eighth places, respectively.

In the women’s elite race, Hellen Obiri led the Kenyan charge with a brilliant second-place finish in 2:15:53, narrowly beating teammate Joyciline Jepkosgei, who took third.

Catherine Amanang’ole rounded out the top five, ensuring a dominant day for the nation’s distance runners.
