Maize prices across select East African countries show notable variations between February and March 2026, reflecting shifting supply and demand dynamics in the region.

According to data from the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA), South Sudan recorded the highest prices, rising from $901.2 per metric ton in February to $1,024.0 in March, underscoring persistent supply constraints.

Kenya saw a slight drop from $527 to $499, while Uganda registered an increase from $390 to $457, suggesting tightening availability.

Rwanda’s prices eased marginally from $420 to $401, and Tanzania also posted a slight decline from $353 to $340. In Ethiopia, prices climbed from $306 to $330.

The mixed trends highlight uneven harvest outcomes, cross-border trade flows, and local market pressures.
