Kenya generated 227.67 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity from utility-scale solar systems between July and December 2025, accounting for 2.92 per cent of the country’s total power demand.

Data from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) shows solar output rose steadily from 33.73 GWh in July to a peak of 43.34 GWh in November before dropping to 38.89 GWh in December.

Generation stood at 33.11 GWh in August, increasing to 38.98 GWh in September and 39.63 GWh in October.

The figures highlight solar energy’s growing contribution to Kenya’s electricity mix amid ongoing efforts to expand renewable energy sources.
