Uterine fibroids: Signs and symptoms/HILLARY BETT

Uterine fibroids are noncancerous growths that develop in the muscle and tissue of the uterus, affecting many women, particularly during their reproductive years.

While some women may not experience symptoms, others face a range of discomforts that can interfere with daily life.

Common signs include heavy or painful menstrual periods and bleeding between cycles, which may lead to fatigue or anemia over time.

Women with fibroids may also experience a feeling of fullness or pressure in the lower abdomen, often caused by the size or number of the growths.

Frequent urination can occur when fibroids press against the bladder, while pain during intercourse and lower back pain are also reported.

In more severe cases, fibroids can contribute to infertility or repeated miscarriages.

Although fibroids are generally benign, their symptoms can be disruptive, making early medical consultation important for proper diagnosis and management.
