Energy Consumption by Region (GWh) in Kenya

Electricity consumption in Kenya grew by 8.27 per cent to 5,938.14 GWh between July and December 2025, according to the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority biannual report.

The increase marks a rise from 5,484.54 GWh recorded in a similar period in 2024.

Nairobi accounted for the largest share of consumption at 2,627.44 GWh, representing 44.24 per cent of total use.

The Coast region followed with 977.9 GWh, while North Eastern recorded 666.98 GWh.

Central Rift consumed 553.74 GWh, ahead of Mt Kenya at 389.52 GWh and West Kenya at 322.89 GWh.

North Rift posted 276.29 GWh, while South Nyanza recorded the lowest consumption at 123.38 GWh
