Gallup 2025’s State of the World’s Emotional Health ranks the top 10 countries and areas by levels of worry in 2024, measured by the percentage of adults reporting worry.

Sierra Leone tops the list at 67 per cent, followed by Guinea at 66 per cent. Malta and Rwanda each record 61 per cent, while Chad stands at 60 per cent.

Burkina Faso and Mozambique report 59 per cent, with Liberia and Mali at 58 per cent. Benin and Venezuela complete the ranking at 57 per cent.

The data links high worry levels to political fragility, coups, contested elections, violent insurgencies, and difficulties balancing economic growth with social and environmental sustainability.
