
Uasin Gishu County has emerged as one of Kenya’s most economically vibrant regions, ranking 15th nationally in the 2024 County Competitiveness Index with an average score of 40 per cent.
According to the report, agriculture, forestry, and fishing activities dominate the county’s economy, contributing 21.8 per cent, followed closely by transport and storage at 18.73 per cent.
Wholesale and retail trade, education, and real estate also feature among the top-performing sectors.
The index measures economic potential, quality of life, infrastructure, and investment attractiveness.
The findings highlight Uasin Gishu’s growing role as a key agricultural and transport hub in Kenya’s regional economy.
