This is closely followed by Transport and storage at 16.00%, which is highly characteristic of a major port city and reinforces Mombasa’s role as the gateway for East and Central Africa.
The Construction sector makes up a significant 14.45%, reflecting ongoing infrastructure and real estate development spurred by trade and population growth.
Combined with Wholesale retail Trader; repair of motors (11.95%) and Real estate activities (11.08%), it’s evident that trade, industrial activity, and related services form the backbone of the coastal economy.
