The government has announced urgent road safety measures following a spike in fatal crashes across the country.

This comes amid concern after 80 people lost their lives in just four days.

Data from the Ministry of Roads and Transport shows that between January and August 10, 2025, a total of 2,933 people have died in crashes across the country.

Transport CS Davis Chirchir said the audit team is expected to complete the exercise within the next seven days.

The team is then expected to submit technical recommendations for implementation to avert unnecessary loss of lives.
