In today’s digital age, traditional media such as TV, radio, and newspapers continue to hold significant relevance across Africa.
A 2024 GeoPoll survey conducted in Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa highlights several reasons for this sustained importance.
Established credibility remains the top reason, with 50% of respondents valuing it. Additionally, 45% appreciate the broad reach of traditional media, especially in rural areas.
Other key factors include in-depth analysis (37%), tangibility and trustworthiness (35%), dedicated local coverage (30%), and regulatory oversight ensuring accuracy and credibility (29%).
Despite the rise of social media, traditional media’s trusted presence in communities remains vital.
