In Summary

Cranberries are small, tart berries packed with powerful nutrients and antioxidants that support overall health.

They are especially well known for promoting urinary tract health, thanks to compounds called proanthocyanidins that help prevent bacteria from sticking to the bladder and urinary tract walls, reducing the risk of recurrent infections.

Rich in vitamin C, flavonoids, and polyphenols, cranberries help protect the body from oxidative damage, support immune function, and may slow inflammation.

Regular consumption has also been linked to better heart health, as they can improve cholesterol balance, reduce blood pressure, and enhance blood vessel function. Interestingly, the same anti-adhesion properties that benefit the urinary tract also help protect oral health by making it harder for harmful bacteria to cling to teeth and gums, potentially lowering the risk of cavities and gum disease.

Additionally, cranberries may promote a healthier gut by supporting beneficial bacteria in the digestive system. For the most benefit, fresh cranberries or unsweetened cranberry juice are best, as many processed cranberry products contain added sugars that can offset their positive effects.
