In 2024, a survey by the EACC revealed that most Kenyans who paid a bribe were dissatisfied with the subsequent services.
A combined 72.5% of respondents reported being either dissatisfied (36.3%) or very dissatisfied (36.2%).
Conversely, only a small fraction, 20.7%, were satisfied (19.2%) or very satisfied (1.5%), with 6.8% remaining neutral.
The survey also highlighted a concerning trend: 43% of those interviewed stated they paid a bribe because it was explicitly demanded.
These findings underscore the widespread ineffectiveness and coercive nature of bribery in Kenya.
