The 2025 Global Report on Food Crises reveals that millions across 10 countries are projected to face critical levels of acute food insecurity at the 2024 peak.

Nigeria leads the list with 31.8 million people affected, followed by Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), each with 25.6 million.

Bangladesh (23.6m), Ethiopia (22m), and Yemen (16.7m) follow closely.

Afghanistan (15.8m), Myanmar (14.4m), Pakistan (11.8m), and the Syrian Arab Republic (9.2m) round out the top 10.

These figures highlight growing food insecurity driven by conflict, economic shocks, and climate-related disasters.

The report, by the Food Security Information Network and partners, calls for coordinated global action to address hunger and support the most vulnerable populations.
