The Ministry of Health has flagged a fake account on social media platform X, claiming to be that of Cabinet Secretary Debora Barasa Mlongo.
The ministry clarified that CS Barasa's official account is "@deborabarasa".
It cautioned Kenyans to be wary of misinformation being spread by the account.
"A fake X account, @Deborah_Mulongo, is falsely posing as the Cabinet Secretary for Health and spreading misinformation. Please be aware—this is not the official account.
"The legitimate account is @deborabarasa. Follow the official account for accurate and timely updates," the Ministry of Health said.
The fake account, at the time of flagging, had over 4,000 followers.
A cross-examination by the Star established that the fake account, which has been running by the name @Deborah_Mulongo has been sharing information posted on the CS's official account.
Barasa is the new Health CS.
She was appointed last week after President William Ruto dismissed his entire Cabinet on July 11, 2024.
