A HIGH-FLYING KENYAN official and
former MP shed tears uncontrollably at the
hands of a principal secretary whom insiders described as a bully. The state officer
was part of a major conference organised
in Nairobi. When it was time for questions
and answers, the official raised some
issues, but the inquiry was reportedly dismissed by the PS as nonsensical. Sources
told Corridors the officer was supposedly
asked what significance her job held. The
official had to be comforted by colleagues.
The PS is accused of using “too much”
English while allegedly treating subordinates as useless. Insiders now pray that the
President will come to their aid.

THE ACTIVITIES OF a prominent businessman from one of the counties have
come under scrutiny. Why? Insiders say
he is purportedly quietly bankrolling an
unlikely political formation—an unexpected
move given his close ties to the powers
that be. Those in the know, however, insist
he is part of a broader power play aimed
at muddying the waters to engineer a
favourable outcome. Whether the strategy
delivers or spectacularly backfires remains
an open question.

A USUALLY COMBATIVE senator has
in recent weeks adopted a softer tone,
even reaching across the aisle to former
rivals. Colleagues say the shift is strategic,
seemingly aimed at positioning himself for
a bigger role in the House. Whether his critics will buy the new persona remains to be
seen. His bloggers, who have been quiet,
have also suddenly woken up and are all
over social media pages praising him.

AN AUDIT REPORT circulating in Treasury corridors has reportedly unsettled
executives at a cash-rich state corporation. Though not yet public, the findings
are said to question procurement procedures and board allowances. Some board
members are now supposedly lobbying
for a soft landing before the report sees
daylight.
