Head of Public Service Felix Koskei has called for greater coordination, accountability and execution across government as the Kenya Kwanza administration seeks to accelerate delivery of its development agenda.

Koskei said the scale of Kenya's transformation programme requires a Public Service that operates as "One Government" with institutions working in a coordinated and disciplined manner.

“The scale of Kenya's transformation agenda, coupled with the administration's urgency in delivering sustained economic growth, expanding opportunities and improving the quality of life of citizens, demands a public service that functions as One Government, coordinated in action, disciplined in execution and consistently aligned around shared national priorities,” he said.

He was speaking Wednesday during the monthly meeting of Principal Secretaries held at the Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) within Konza Technopolis.

The meeting brought together Principal Secretaries from across government to review progress on key national programmes and address emerging implementation challenges.

According to Koskei, discussions focused on productivity and performance management, public financial management reforms, food security interventions, national security, public health preparedness, government communication and investment promotion initiatives.

The Chief of Staff said the forum provided an opportunity to assess progress across various sectors and strengthen coordination among Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

“Our discussions reaffirmed the central role of Principal Secretaries in translating policy into tangible outcomes for citizens,” he said.

He emphasised that stronger collaboration, enhanced accountability and a focus on results remain critical if the government is to deliver meaningful improvements in the lives of Kenyans.

“Greater accountability, stronger collaboration across Government and an unwavering focus on execution remain critical if we are to deliver measurable and lasting improvements in the lives and livelihoods of Kenyans,” Koskei said.

He noted that the government continues to register progress across several flagship programmes, with important implementation milestones being achieved in different sectors.

“Steady progress continues to be recorded across flagship programmes, with important implementation milestones being achieved across sectors,” he said.

Koskei challenged the PSs to sustain the momentum, swiftly address bottlenecks and ensure every government intervention contributes to the broader goal of building a prosperous, secure and inclusive nation.

“As we move forward, our collective responsibility is to sustain momentum, resolve bottlenecks with urgency and ensure that every Government intervention contributes meaningfully to the national objective of building a more prosperous, secure and inclusive Kenya,” he said.

The meeting was held at KAIST, one of the country's flagship institutions for science, technology and innovation, underscoring the government's emphasis on knowledge-driven development and economic transformation.
