A brief interaction involving Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki drew attention during a public event attended by President William Ruto in Wajir.

The President was greeting leaders and members of the public as he made his way through the gathering, accompanied by Kindiki and other government officials.

As Kindiki followed the President while engaging other leaders in conversation, Duale was seen approaching a man who had just greeted the Head of State.

The Health CS then removed a cap the man was wearing and handed it to the Deputy President.

Kindiki accepted the cap and immediately put it on before proceeding with the event alongside the other leaders.

The incident lasted only a few seconds but quickly caught the attention of Kenyans online after the clip began circulating on social media platforms.

The brief exchange, captured on video, quickly attracted attention on social media, with many users sharing humorous takes on the incident while others raised questions.

Some users joked that the cap had unexpectedly found its way from an ordinary citizen to the country's second-in-command within seconds.

“Kenya is a funny country, my guys! A whole DP anaombewa kofia surely,” wrote Jac Ma.

Dee Enem asked, “Was it sanitised?”

Some social media users viewed the gesture as a harmless attempt to have the Deputy President wear branded merchandise associated with the event.

“Wouldn't think much of it. They just wanted him branded for whatever that is they are branded for...,” wrote Nyaboke Ngoge.

Others continued with the light-hearted commentary.

“DP thinks it's new,” Paul Bariu quipped.

Samuel Apetet summed up the moment by writing: “The cap started the day in the crowd and ended it in government.”

Kindiki had accompanied President Ruto on his Wajir tour, where he launched projects and presided over Madaraka Day.
