President William Ruto is among hundreds of motorsport fans who attended the 37th Rhino Charge event in Samburu on Sunday.
Ruto was accompanied by Tourism CS Rebecca Miano and other local leaders.
The Rhino Charge is one of Kenya’s most iconic off-road motorsport events, combining adventure, endurance and conservation.
Held annually in remote locations, the event challenges competitors to navigate rugged terrain while raising funds for environmental protection.
In 2026, the event was hosted in Samburu county, drawing hundreds of participants, spectators and conservation enthusiasts from across the country and beyond.
Unlike conventional races, the Rhino Charge is not based on speed.
Teams earn points by reaching checkpoints in the shortest possible distance, often traversing steep hills, rocky valleys and difficult landscapes.
The event tests driving skill, strategy and teamwork under harsh conditions.
