Detectives in Busia have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the fatal stabbing of his cousin following a dispute over a missing memory card.

According to police, the incident was reported on Monday, May 18, after the deceased, who was also aged 15, died while undergoing treatment at Busia County Referral Hospital.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased sustained serious injuries on Saturday, May 16, during a confrontation with his cousin, a Grade 9 student.

Police said the disagreement reportedly arose over a missing memory card before the suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the abdomen with a kitchen knife, inflicting serious injuries.

The victim was rushed to Busia County Referral Hospital for treatment, but later died while receiving medical care on Monday.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Busia Police Station visited and documented the scene alongside crime scene investigators.

Police said the suspected murder weapon was recovered and the juvenile suspect taken into custody.

The body was moved to the Busia County Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, police in Kandara, Murang’a County, have launched investigations into the sudden death of a 40-year-old woman who reportedly collapsed outside her business premises at Makenji Shopping Centre.

The deceased was identified as Easter Nyambura Njau, who is said to have collapsed moments before she was found unresponsive outside the premises.

Police officers, accompanied by crime scene investigators, visited the scene and found the body lying in a supine position with no visible physical injuries.

The scene was processed by Scene of Crime personnel as investigations into the cause of death got underway.

The body was transferred to General Kago Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination.

In a separate incident, police in Matungulu, Machakos County, are investigating the killing of a 45-year-old man whose body was discovered in a grazing field.

According to police, herdsmen tending cattle in the area alerted authorities after spotting the body lying in the field.

Officers visited the scene and identified the deceased as Peter Mutiso Ndunda through an identity card recovered from his possession.

Police said the body had visible marks around the neck believed to have been caused by strangulation using a wire.

The deceased was also found with bruises on both arms, while blood was seen oozing from his nose.

Investigators noted there were no visible signs of a struggle at the scene, raising suspicions that the man may have been killed elsewhere before the body was dumped in the field.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was transferred to Kangundo Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.

Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
