Police said they had recovered a knife that was used in the murder of a woman along Kirichwa Road, Kilimani, Nairobi.

A man who was her ex-boyfriend was arrested after he stabbed and killed her in an attack.

Police said the suspect will appear in court for a miscellaneous application pending a probe into the murder

Both the man and the deceased woman worked for a money-lending company located along Ngong Road.

The deceased woman was aged 25 and identified as Ann Keya Ahuna, while the man is 22 and is an IT expert, police said.

The incident happened on Thursday, May 14, 2026, evening as the woman and her friends walked towards Argwings Kodhek direction from their place of work.

She had left their place of work oblivious of the plans by the man she once dated and had broken up with. He was jinxed. Her family said the two had a troubled relationship for over two years.

According to her friends, she and the man had separated, and she moved from his house in the Kawangware area to her aunt’s in the same area.

The man was not happy. It is not clear what caused the separation, but the friends said their relationship was toxic.

Colleagues said the woman had resumed work on May 14 after being away for weeks. The assailant was also in the office. He had come to work while armed with a knife, police said.

At work, the management had tried to reconcile on May 14, but that did not work out. The man had to be removed from the meeting, colleagues said.

And after the day’s work, she and her colleagues left on foot. It was then that the assailant trailed her, stabbed her multiple times and slit her throat.

She tried to run to a nearby clinic for help, but collapsed outside and bled to death.

The assailant tried to escape the scene but was restrained by the public as police arrived to rescue him.

He did not have any injury, said Kilimani police boss Patricia Yegon.

She said the suspect was taken to a hospital, found to fit and taken back to the cells.

“The blood stains he had were from the slain woman,” said Yegon.

She added that the murder is linked to a toxic relationship and that the man would be taken to court for murder.

Yegon said the police were digging further to establish more information on the murder.

She added the killer weapon- a knife-was recovered at the scene. This was after the police combed and revisited it over the weekend.

The family of the woman has demanded justice in the murder.

The body of the woman was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures on Monday, May 18.
