Bus overturns along the Nakuru Kericho-Highway on May 17, 2026./HANDOUT
Two people died, and scores of passengers were injured on Sunday after a Climax Coach bus overturned at Kapmakaa in Chepsir along the busy Nakuru–Kericho Highway near Mau Summit in Kericho County.
Police say the accident left the bus lying on its side by the roadside as rescue efforts got underway.
Witnesses said the crash caused panic among passengers, with several sustaining injuries during the rollover accident.
Emergency responders and good Samaritans rushed to the scene to assist the injured before they were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The cause of the accident was not immediately established.
The Nakuru–Kericho highway, particularly around the Mau Summit stretch, has witnessed several road accidents in recent years, raising concerns over road safety along the route.
Police have launched investigations into the incident.
