President William Ruto has visited Heydar Aliyev Centre in Baku, Azerbaijan, on the sidelines of the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum.
The Heydar Aliyev Center is one of the most iconic architectural landmarks in Azerbaijan and a major symbol of the country’s modernisation drive.
The futuristic cultural complex was designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid and officially opened in 2012.
The center is internationally celebrated for its striking design, characterized by sweeping curves, fluid forms and the absence of sharp angles.
The structure quickly became one of the most photographed
buildings in the world and earned several prestigious international
architecture awards.
Beyond its eye-catching appearance, the center serves as a major cultural and conference hub. It hosts international forums, exhibitions, concerts, diplomatic meetings and artistic performances.
Inside, visitors can explore museums showcasing Azerbaijani history and culture, contemporary art galleries, conference halls and exhibition spaces.
The center has also become a key venue for state functions and high-level meetings involving foreign leaders and dignitaries visiting Azerbaijan.
