

Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has been awarded the Distinguished Public Service and Governance Award in recognition of his exemplary leadership, dedication to public service, and commitment to transformative governance, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
The governor was feted by the IFP Global Advocates of Peace (GAP) Kenya, a United Nations-endorsed initiative. The award was issued by Global Advocates of Peace Flag, Kenya country director, Amb. Dr John Nditu, during a ceremony at Nakuru on Friday night, was received by Deputy Speaker John Njiru and Leader of Majority Godfrey Mucheke on behalf of the governor.
Nditu said Wamatangi was selected because of his projects and programs that have transformed many families through distribution of piglets, improved kienyeji chicks to over 130,000 women, maize seeds, and fertiliser to over 700,000 farmers; building 512 ECDE centers and feeding over 50,000 ECDE learners; and building 32 new hospitals and equipping existing ones and markets, which have led to strong and peaceful families.
"On behalf of our International Board, we are pleased to inform him that he has been selected as a recipient of a Distinguished Public Service and Governance Award, in recognition of his exemplary leadership and outstanding contribution to public service," Nditu said.
"Being a key person in Kiambu County who has transformed many homesteads, through piggery, poultry, ECDE, healthcare, markets, school feeding programs and more, the International Board of Management has recognised these efforts and their impact on families."
