The widow of the late Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ngeno, Nayianoi Ngeno, on Thursday cast her vote at Mokondo Polling Station during the Emurua Dikirr constituency by-election in an emotional moment that reminded many residents of the late legislator’s legacy.
Speaking after voting, Nayianoi said returning to the polling station without her husband was painful and emotional.
“Today was a bit emotional for me because I came alone, yet the last time I was here, I came to vote together with my husband. However, he left behind a strong support system,” she said.
She revealed that despite the emotional burden following the death of her husband, she had decided to support the ruling UDA party in the by-election.
“Unfortunately today, I had to vote for his opponent because we need to support the ruling UDA party and the government,” she stated.

She urged residents of Emurua Dikirr to remain united and continue supporting the UDA administration and President William Ruto’s development agenda.
At the same time, she called on whoever emerges victorious in the by-election to uphold and continue the development vision and leadership legacy left behind by the late Johana Ngeno.
“Please accomplish Ngeno’s aspirations and continue serving the people the way he desired,” she appealed.
The Emurua Dikirr parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Johana Ngeno in a tragic helicopter crash at Chepkiep village in Mosop sub-county, Nandi County, on February 28.
Security officers were deployed in the area as electoral officials oversaw the voting exercise. Residents turned up at different polling centres to elect a new constituency representative.
