
Police in Homa Bay County are investigating a murder incident following the death of a 21-year-old club cleaner who was allegedly assaulted by a customer during an early morning confrontation at a nightclub in Homa Bay town.
According to police, the victim, identified as Felix Ochieng, had reported on duty at around 4 am Saturday and began asking revellers to leave the club to allow cleaning operations to begin.
Police investigations indicate that one customer allegedly became agitated after being asked to leave and confronted the cleaner using a club, commonly known as a rungu.
Ochieng reportedly lost consciousness after the assault and was rushed to the Homa Bay County Teaching and Referral Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Following the incident, angry customers present descended on the suspect and subjected him to mob justice before police intervened and rescued him.
He was taken to the same hospital where he was treated and admitted in fair condition. Police officers visited and processed the scene.
The body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary, awaiting postmortem examination, while the suspected murder weapon, a rungu, was recovered as evidence.
And police in Nairobi are investigating a drowning incident after the body of a 57-year-old man was discovered in a pool of stagnant water near the Outering Road railway underpass in Buruburu Subcounty.
According to the police, the incident happened on Friday.
Police officers who visited the scene found the body of Josphat Wainaina Mwangi lying face down in a shallow pool of stagnant trench water about one kilometre east of the station.
Authorities noted that the deceased had an injury on the forehead, which investigators suspect may have been caused by hitting a stone in the water. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Meanwhile, police in Maai Mahiu Police Station are investigating an abduction incident involving a businessman from Ol Kalou Township in Nyandarua county.
According to the police, the incident was reported on May 9, 2026, when the victim, Kenneth Njuguna Njohi told police that he was abducted on the evening of May 8 at around 7 pm while in Ol Kalou town.
The victim, who was accompanied to the station by three other men, alleged that the abductors were using three vehicles. Their details were not captured.
He said the suspects blocked his car before three armed men alighted, fired several shots into the air and forcibly removed him from his vehicle.
He told investigators the gang bundled him into a white Toyota vehicle of an unknown model before speeding off as the other two cars followed behind.
The victim further claimed that upon reaching the Ndumberi area, the abductors blindfolded and handcuffed him before removing him from the car.
He alleged that other individuals, including a woman, joined the group and shaved his hair before subjecting him to beatings.
He was later allegedly bundled back into the vehicle and dumped at Karima area in Maai Mahiu, where members of the public rescued him and assisted him in reporting the matter to the police.
Police said they confirmed the incident, and investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the alleged abduction and identify those responsible.
Njohi is a popular commentator on social media. The action is believed to be linked to politics in the area.
He appeared on social media on Saturday, saying he was safe but protested he had been tortured and shaved.
Police they are investigating the incident, and no arrest has been made so far.
No arrest had been made by Sunday amid a push for action.
