Police in Nairobi have recovered items reported stolen from Full Gospel Mission Church in the Mowlem Powerline area following an early morning patrol.

According to the National Police Service, officers from Obama Police Station in Kayole Sub-County made the recovery in the Mwengenye Saika area.

The officers were on routine patrol when they spotted two individuals carrying luggage “in a suspicious manner” along Dandora Bridge.

On noticing the officers, the two individuals abandoned the items and fled the scene.

Police said a search of the recovered property revealed assorted household goods and electronic equipment. Officers also recovered a metal bar suspected to have been used to facilitate a break-in.

“Preliminary investigations established that the items had been stolen from Full Gospel Mission Church in the Mowlem Powerline area,” the National Police Service said.

The service added that investigations are ongoing to identify and trace the individuals who fled, as efforts continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police said patrols in the area have since been intensified following the recovery.

The National Police Service urged members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

“Police have intensified patrols in the area and urge members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities,” the statement said.

Members of the public can also use emergency numbers 999 and 911, or the #FichuaKwaDCI toll-free line 0800 722 203 and WhatsApp number 0709 570 000 to share information.
