A new audit has flagged blunders in the multibillion-shilling Thwake Dam project, meant to transform lives in lower Eastern Kenya, that have exposed taxpayers to losses of at least Sh12.4 billion.

A new audit by Auditor General Nancy Gathungu reveals a troubling mix of issues that threaten the successful implementation of the mega project which kicked off in the 2017-18 financial year.
