Nairobi police have arrested two suspects in connection with a robbery in South B. Officers also recovered a motorcycle and several stolen mobile phones.

The incident occurred when a member of the public was accosted by two individuals riding a motorcycle. The suspects stole a high-end mobile phone before attempting to flee.

Police responded swiftly to a distress call. “Officers on patrol responded swiftly, pursued the suspects and successfully apprehended them,” the National Police Service (NPS) said.

Three mobile phones, including the stolen device, were recovered alongside the motorcycle believed to have been used in the crime.

The suspects are currently in custody and are expected to appear in court to face the relevant charges.

The arrests follow a broader crackdown on organised criminal activity. In Kirinyaga County, police arrested three suspects in a coordinated overnight operation on March 24, 2026.

The multi-agency operation involved officers from Ngong Police Station, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and Mwea–Makutano Police Post.

The suspects were apprehended at about 1:04 am in the Makutano–Ngomongo area after police received intelligence that they had gone into hiding. Authorities described the operation as “precise and intelligence-led,” highlighting its role in dismantling criminal networks.

During the Kirinyaga arrests, police recovered a Glock 17 pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition. Investigators said the firearm is expected to link the suspects to a violent robbery reported in Ngong on March 12, 2025, during which a victim was shot and seriously injured.

A red motorcycle, believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle, was also seized for forensic analysis. Clothing suspected to have been worn during the robbery was recovered as part of the evidence.

Police said they are expanding investigations to determine whether the suspects could be linked to other robberies within and beyond the region.

“The National Police Service continues to enhance patrols and rapid response measures to safeguard the public,” the NPS added, emphasising its commitment to protecting citizens and curbing criminal activity.

These arrests come amid renewed efforts by law enforcement agencies to address violent robberies and organised crime. Authorities urge the public to report suspicious activity promptly to assist in preventing further incidents.

With rapid response and intelligence-led operations proving effective, police officials say they remain vigilant across Nairobi and neighbouring counties, aiming to curb crime and ensure safety for all residents.
