The document that DAP-K flagged as 'fake'/X

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has dismissed as false a document circulating on social media that purports to communicate major party leadership changes and expulsions of senior officials.

The party says the letter, which bears its letterhead and appears to be addressed to the Registrar of Political Parties, is fabricated and should be disregarded.

The document, dated 12 November 2025, claims that an emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) was convened and resolved to expel two senior party members while appointing new office bearers.

It further asserts that the Registrar had been asked to update official party records in line with the alleged changes.

The letter features a signature and an imitation party stamp, and prominently carries a red “FAKE” watermark, which DAP-K says it added to help alert the public after the forgery began to circulate widely.

The letter also purports to bear the signature of Acting Secretary General Seth Panyako.

The forged document goes on to make claims about disciplinary action within the party and a reshuffling of its top leadership.

“Following extensive consultations and in accordance with the DAP-K constitution, and having satisfied itself that due notice was issued and the members were accorded a fair hearing, the NEC resolved to expel Hon. Eugene Wamalwa and Eseli Simiyu from the party with immediate effect,” the letter claims.

It further alleges that, “Consequently, and in line with the powers vested in the NEC under Article 10, the committee resolved to fill the resulting vacancies on an interim basis until the next Delegates Congress.”

According to the fake document, the purported new office bearers were Governor George Natembeya as Party Leader, Deputy Governor Ayub Savula Angatia as Senior Deputy Party Leader, and Seth Panyako as Secretary General.

The letter presents these alleged appointments as immediate and binding, implying that the Registrar of Political Parties should update the party’s official records accordingly.

"We kindly request the office of the Registrar of Political Parties to update the party records accordingly and acknowledge receipt of these changes as required under section 20 of the Political Parties Act," it further purports.

It added that they remain available to provide any additional documentation the office may require.

DAP-K has, however, dismissed the entire communication as a fabrication, noting that no such NEC meeting took place and no leadership changes or expulsions have been sanctioned.

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) is officially led by Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, with Eseli Simiyu serving as Secretary General and George Natembeya serving as Deputy Party Leader.
