Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna will be leading the Kenya Moja caucus to its first public event since the death of ODM leader Raila Odinga last month.
The Kenya Moja Alliance, mainly composed of youthful MPs, will converge at Magena Primary School grounds, Bomachoge Borabu Constituency, in Kisii county on Friday.
According to host MP Obadiah Barongo, the leaders will be having ‘Kikao na Wajane’ (Meeting Widows), from 11 am as they seek to boost them through a fundraiser.
“Friday, before the Sabbath begins....Kisii county,” Sifuna wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday evening, confirming his attendance while posting a flyer promoting the event.
Other than Sifuna and the host Barongo, other MPs who are expected to attend the event include Senator Richard Onyonka, MPs Babu Owino (Embakasi East-ODM), Caleb Amisi (Sabaoti-ODM), Joshua Kimilu (Kaiti-Wiper) and Anthony Kibagendi (Kitutu Chache South-ODM).
Others are Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri-UDA), Clive Gisairo (Kitutu Masaba-ODM), Jack Omboka (Bumula-DAP-K), Majimbo Kalasinga (Kabuchai-Ford Kenya), Ojiambo Oundo (Funyula-ODM), Patrick Makau (Mavoko-Wiper) and Nyamira Senator Okong’o Omogeni.

Although the leaders come from different political parties, most of them are linked to the united opposition group, which is seeking to make President William Ruto a one-term president.
“We are going to meet one of the most vulnerable groups in our society who need genuine support from the community,” Kibagendi said.
Sifuna, who is the ODM Secretary General and Babu are among the high-profile leaders within the Orange Movement who have rejected a push to support Ruto’s re-election through the broad-based arrangement.
Although Sifuna has yet to endorse any presidential aspirant, he has made it public that supporting Ruto will not be among his choices, while Babu has endorsed Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the recent past.
Senators Onyonka and Omogeni, as well as MPs Kibagendi, Gisairo and Wamuchomba are linked to Jubilee’s Fred Matiang’i, with Makau and Kimilu throwing their support behind Kalonzo.
The leaders in opposition hope to pick one candidate in a 2002-like move to face Ruto in the August 2027 elections.
However, the team around Sifuna may be seeking to produce a third force to accommodate leaders who are not aligned to either UDA or the United opposition.
“We’re not a third force — we are the force. This government lacked proper checks and balances, and we’ve stepped in to fill that gap," Babu declared recently.
Amisi echoed that sentiment, describing Kenya Moja as a generational transition.
“This is a generational struggle — just like we transitioned from colonialism to African rule, or from apartheid to black leadership. Change is knocking.”
