

Kenyan students looking to gain international experience and enhance their teaching careers now have a chance to work in France.
The French Embassy in Kenya has opened applications for the language teaching assistant program for the year 2026-2027.
The program offers 170 positions for Kenyans to teach English in public schools across France, including in French overseas Departments, for a seven-month period.
Participants will not only support French students in learning English but also gain professional skills, cultural exposure, and global connections that can shape future career paths.
According to the French Embassy, the program is open to university students and recent graduates who meet the eligibility requirements.
“This initiative provides a platform for young Kenyans to enhance their teaching skills, immerse themselves in French culture, and contribute to educational exchange between our countries,” reads a notice from the Embassy.
Application process and key dates
The application window runs from November 15, 2025 to January 15, 2026.
After submission, pre-selection will be conducted in January 2026, with interviews scheduled between January and February 2026.
The results of the interviews will be announced in May 2026, while official assignments will be communicated in June 2026.
Applicants are encouraged to submit all required documents within the deadline to avoid disqualification.
The selection process emphasises both academic qualifications and the ability to adapt to a new cultural and educational environment.
To be considered for the position, one must be of age between 20-35 years, be enrolled in university, TVET or Alliance Française, have studied mainly in Kenya and have a minimum B1 level certificate in French.
