The Boma Yangu Elburgon Estate in Molo Constituency, Nakuru
County, is now complete and ready for occupation.
On Monday afternoon, President Dr. William Ruto officially
handed over keys to new homeowners, marking the third group of beneficiaries
under the government’s Affordable Housing Programme.
The estate comprises 220 housing units built across nine G+4
blocks and is expected to accommodate about 1,500 residents.
The project aims to provide affordable, quality housing while generating jobs and supporting local industries.

One of the beneficiaries, James Munga, who successfully
applied for a two-bedroom unit, praised the initiative.
“At first, I was
hesitant to apply, but when I saw the project taking shape, I didn’t waste
time. Now I’m a proud homeowner through Boma Yangu,” he said.
Munga thanked the President for keeping his promise to
deliver decent and affordable housing to ordinary Kenyans and urged leaders to
support the government’s development agenda rather than politicize the
projects.
Martha Maina, a public health assistant who acquired a studio unit, also lauded the programme.

She said the “rent-to-own” model inspired her to register
for the Boma Yangu platform, adding that it gives young Kenyans an opportunity
to own homes early in their careers.
“It’s an empowering
initiative, especially for people like us who never imagined we could own a
house so soon,” she said.
The Elburgon Estate is designed with essential amenities,
including parking spaces, garbage collection points, a boundary wall,
underground water tank, green spaces, driveways, walkways, street lighting, and
a borehole to ensure steady water supply.
The layout reflects the government’s focus on developing
sustainable and inclusive urban communities.
Construction began in September 2023 through a partnership
with Top Choice Surveillance Limited and was completed within two years.
During the building phase, about 1,000 locals benefited from employment opportunities both directly and indirectly.

The project also engaged local jua kali artisans to fabricate doors, windows, and rails, creating a crucial link between the construction industry and the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) sector.
Housing Principal Secretary Charles Hinga said the project
consists of 60 studio apartments, 20 one-bedroom units, 120 two-bedroom units,
and 20 three-bedroom units.
He added that the development fosters a sustainable and self-reliant neighbourhood where residents can “live, work, and play.”

The Elburgon project is part of President Ruto’s broader
vision to increase homeownership among low- and middle-income Kenyans, bridge
the housing gap, and stimulate economic growth through affordable housing. For
many residents, it marks not just a new home, but a new beginning.
