A suspect surrendered to police after he had stabbed and killed his wife in Lopolos sub-location, Koibatek, Baringo County.

Police said the body of Sheila Changwony, 30, was found lying on a bed long after the murder on October 20, 2025.

The assailant, who was her husband, had earlier escaped the scene and called a relative, saying they had a fight and he suspected the woman was dead.

This prompted the neighbours to break into the house where the body of the woman was found lying on the bed and covered by a blanket.

Police were called and collected the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other investigations.

The suspect later surrendered to a local police station, saying he feared being attacked by a mob.

Police took him into custody pending an investigation and possible prosecution.

Elsewhere in the Obunga area, Kisumu County, a man was stoned to death after being accused of stealing a water meter.

The man was found with the stolen meter on Monday morning, before an alarm was raised, alerting locals who confronted and stoned him to death. The mob also set his body on fire.

Police were called to the scene and helped to move the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

Such cases have been on the rise in the area amid efforts to address the trend. Police term mob lynching a crime and want suspects to surrender for processing and prosecution.

In Ashabito, Mandera County, one Mohamud Abdullahi Noor, 60, was shot and killed by unknown gunmen, police said.

His body was found in the Lakari area, where he was taking care of his livestock.

The body was taken to a local health centre after the shooting. Police said they are investigating the murder.

Meanwhile, police in Turkana are investigating the fatal shooting of a 30-year-old man by unknown gunmen in an attack.

The incident happened on Monday in Kapelbok village and involved one James Ereng.

The perpetrators are said to have vanished into the nearby bushes after the incident.

A multi-agency patrol team was later dispatched to comb the area as the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Police suspect the attackers were armed bandits roaming the area.

The area is among those under Operation Maliza Uhalifu aimed at dealing with bandits.

The operation has managed to contain crime in the area and other counties despite persistence.

The operation targets Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana, Samburu, Marsabit, Elgeyo Marakwet, Meru, and Isiolo counties.
