Kisumu residents stormed the streets of Kisumu City to mourn the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at night as they await the arrival of his body on Saturday.
Raila’s body will be transported to Kisumu, his political stronghold, for public viewing before burial on Sunday at his Opoda Farm in Bondo.
The death has drawn mourners from across Kenya, with a steady stream of people arriving at Opoda Farm daily to pay their respects.

Security has been tightened around the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, where the body of the former Prime Minister is expected to arrive at 8 am.
Mourners arrived in the city streets carrying flowers, lighting candles, and some vowing to stay up all night until the body arrives on Saturday.

Initially planned to take place at Moi Stadium in Kisumu, the official public viewing has been relocated to Jomo Kenyatta Stadium in Mamboleo.
Raila will be laid to rest at Kang’o ka Jaramogi in Bondo, beside the grave of his late mother.

Only a small circle of family members and close friends, in accordance with Raila’s personal wishes, will attend the ceremony.
Access to Opoda Farm has now been heavily restricted, with only close family members and select officials allowed inside as funeral arrangements intensify.
A heavy police presence remains around the expansive homestead as the nation prepares to lay to rest one of its most influential and iconic political leaders.
