Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo has assured Kenyans of maximum security during the upcoming by-elections.

Speaking in Kasipul, Omollo said the government will ensure there is security and order in Kasipul Constituency and the 22 other electoral areas across the country.

Omollo said the government had deployed adequate security personnel and coordinated with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure peaceful and credible polls.

“I want to assure not just the people of Kasipul, but the entire country, that every part of Kenya deserves the highest level of security,” he said.

He noted that the country is currently experiencing a stable security environment, adding that previous challenges in Kasipul had been addressed.

“Even the primaries conducted by the ODM party were not shrouded in the kind of violence witnessed in the past,” the PS said, expressing confidence that the upcoming by-election would be peaceful.

Omollo urged candidates and supporters to exercise tolerance and restraint during campaigns, cautioning against provocation and political intolerance.

"If you don’t support a particular candidate, keep away from their functions. Do not attend rallies to shout down others or cause chaos,” he appealed.

He emphasised that the Ministry of Interior would continue working closely with the IEBC to uphold law and order throughout the election period.

“IEBC has rules and regulations that guide its elections. As a ministry, we will continue to support them to ensure we have a credible exercise devoid of any form of violence or intimidation,” he said.

There are a total of 23 by-elections encompassing six National Assembly seats, one Senate seat, and 16 MCA positions.

These vacancies arose due to a number of reasons, including deaths and appointments to other roles.

The IEBC has set November 27, 2025, for all pending by-elections across the country.

Campaigning will run from October 8 until November 24, closing 48 hours before election day.

The daily campaign hours are set from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Independent candidates must meet eligibility requirements, including a three-month gap from political party membership and submission of a clearance certificate from the Registrar of Political Parties.

Dispute resolution by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) will run from October 8 to October 17.

These structured timelines aim to ensure a transparent, organised process, giving voters and candidates adequate time to prepare, engage, and participate in the democratic exercise.
