Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen will today lead the final Jukwaa la Usalama, Nairobi Chapter, security meeting.

After traversing parts of the country to discuss security and provision of citizen services at the grassroots since April, touring 46 counties, Murkomen concludes with county number 47.

During the county tours, the CS made administrative pronouncements, policy directives and legislative proposals to address emerging security challenges for efficient and effective service delivery to Kenyans.

The programme will begin with a regional security meeting at Nyayo House at 8 am, followed by a courtesy call on Governor Johnson Sakaja at City Hall.

Murkomen and his team will then inspect ID registration services at the National Registration Bureau, NSSF Building, before heading to the Kenya School of Government, Kabete, for the highlight event, a town hall meeting with city residents.

Nairobi’s edition is expected to draw wide interest given the capital’s unique security landscape.

Former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno Anyango to be buried today

Veteran politician Dalmas Otieno will be buried today at his rural home in Kangeso village, Migori County.

Otieno died on September 7, 2025, at his Nairobi residence. He was 80.

National and county leaders are expected at the funeral.

Born in Kangeso village, Rongo, Migori County, on April 19, 1945, Otieno leaves behind a storied legacy that stretches across Kenya's transition from the one-party era to

Otieno first rose to political prominence in 1988 when he was elected Member of Parliament for Rongo on a KANU ticket.

Under President Daniel Arap Moi, he served in several ministerial roles, including Minister for Industrialisation, Labour and Human Resource Development, and Transport and Communications during the 1990s.

Linda Jamii, youth to join forces to demand anti-corruption action

Operation Linda Jamii, an umbrella body of civil society organisations, will lead the Gen Z in a peaceful procession in Nairobi to demand action against corruption.

The group will march to the Integrity Centre at 9.30 am, then to the Senate to present to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission with a petition demanding that they come up with measures to prevent corruption and recover lost funds.

The group has blamed graft for slowing the economy, leading to youth unemployment, dysfunctional education, healthcare, infrastructure and national security. 

Failure to meet these demands within 21 days, the group said, will lead to a countrywide call to occupy the Senate and demand the disbandment of EACC.

Nairobi health workers to picket over non-payment of third-party deductions

Trade unions representing health workers in Nairobi will hold a joint picketing action to protest the non-payment of July 2025 third-party deductions, August 2025 salaries and September 2025 salaries by the Nairobi City County Government.

The unions have said persistent failure to honour agreements with health workers undermines trust and erodes sound employer-employee relations.

The unions will meet at 9 am at Jeevanjee Gardens in the CBD before marching through Muindi Mbingu Street, Kenyatta Avenue, Wabera Street and City Hall Way.

The unions include the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists, and Dentists Union, Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives, Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers, Kenya Environmental Health & Public Health Practitioners Union, Kenya Union of Clinical Officers, Kenya National Union of Pharmaceutical Technologists and Officers and Kenya Union of Nutritionists and Dietitians.

Electric mobility stakeholders to hold press briefing on Road to Addis Initiative

Players in electric mobility will hold a press conference on the Road to Addis Initiative.

The press conference will be held at Ridge Cabin Resort, Tigoni, from 10 am.

The initiative highlights East Africa’s readiness to electrify transport and goods movement, powered by clean energy, innovation, and collaboration.

The Road to Addis is a first-of-its-kind 1,600 km electric mobility showcase, bringing together electric two-wheelers, passenger cars, and heavy-duty trucks on a cross-border convoy from Nairobi to Addis Ababa.

MPs to inspect the Green Park pedestrian underpass

The Departmental Committee on Transport and Infrastructure will undertake an inspection visit to the Green Park pedestrian underpass project along the Uhuru Highway-Haile Selassie roundabout in Nairobi.

Members of the committee will visit the site from 11.00 am.

Nairobi residents have been eagerly awaiting the official opening of the Sh2 billion Green Park underpass, a modern pedestrian corridor designed to transform urban mobility and safety in the city centre.

With construction almost complete, city officials are optimistic that the new infrastructure will soon usher in a new era of walkability and pedestrian safety in the capital.
