Police are investigating
an incident where the body of a 30-year-old woman was found on a chair after
her murder in Bonyunyu village, Nyamira county.
A relative found the
body of Agnes Moraa Monda in her house long after she had been killed on
September 29, 2025.
The body was found on a
chair with injuries around her neck, police said.
The husband of the slain
woman later surrendered to the Mokomoni police post, where he was arrested and
detained.
He said he feared the
villagers would kill him.
He told police he and
the woman had quarreled before the same went bad.
The woman’s body was
moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further processing.
Such murder incidents at
homes have been on the rise in the past months amid calls for parties to solve
their differences amicably.
Police link the same to
love triangles. Most of the cases are pending in courts, while others have been
solved, police said.
The government is
investigating a spike in cases of murder targeting women.
In a different incident within the same Bonyunyu village, a 21-year-old man was found murdered and his body dumped on the
roadside.
Police said Clinton
Momanyi was murdered elsewhere before his body was dumped in the area on September
29, 2025.
According to the police,
the man’s head had deep multiple fresh cuts, and both hands had been tied with a
sisal rope.
The motive of the murder
was not immediately known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary
pending an autopsy.
Detectives suspect
the murder was the work of a vigilante group operating in the area, and efforts
to confirm the same are ongoing.
In another incident, police are investigating an incident where a body of a man was found near a school in Buruburu, Nairobi.
The man had
injuries on the head and seemed to have been murdered at the scene, police who
attended the scene said.
Guards reporting
to work in the area said they stumbled on the body lying near the gate of a
local school long after the incident had happened.
The motive of
the murder is yet to be known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary
pending identification and autopsy.
Such murders have
been linked to violent robberies.
Police want victims
of robberies to cooperate with their attackers for their own safety in general.
“It is better to cooperate with an attacker who is
ready to harm you than fight back and be killed or be left with serious injuries,” Nairobi police commander George Seda said.
He said they have increased patrols to address cases of robberies in some areas of the city.
