President William Ruto’s aide, Farouk Kibet, has said the opposition is losing momentum because of what he described as a focus on divisive politics rather than presenting alternative ideas for the country.

Speaking at PAG Tuiyogaa Church in Turbo Constituency, Uasin Gishu County, Farouk said Kenyans were more interested in unity and development, adding that political leaders should avoid rhetoric that may cause divisions.

“They have just concentrated on shouting that Kasongo must go. Kenyans do not even know who that Kasongo is. Everyone knows William Ruto is the president of this country, and that is it,” said Farouk.

“We need a united country in order to develop. Any attempts to divide Kenyans along tribal lines will not succeed,” he said.

He urged citizens to support government programmes, including enrollment in the Social Health Authority (SHA) scheme, which he said would enable families to access affordable healthcare.

Farouk also expressed confidence that President Ruto would secure a second term in office.

At the same time, he raised concerns about drug and alcohol abuse in the region, warning that the trend was affecting families and particularly harming young people.

“Unless tough action is taken by security agencies, the substances will ruin many families,” he cautioned.

Farouk asked local security teams to intensify crackdowns on lorries allegedly being used to ferry illicit alcohol into the area.

He was accompanied by Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii, Turbo MP Janet Sitienei, and MCA Nicholas Rende.

“President Ruto and all of us are busy focusing on development. That is our main agenda,” Bii said.

Uriri MP Mark Nyamita, who attended the event, praised President Ruto’s record so far, saying the administration had achieved significant progress in its first three years in office.

“Ruto is developing this country equitably, and the opposition has not presented a better alternative to what the government is already doing,” Nyamita said. He also called on the media to highlight positive developments in the country.
